Fat powder is used in the product of several food products, for example in soups, sauces, and ice cream blends. It’s formed by spray-drying an emulsion made of proteins, carbohydrates, and vegetable fat (in this case, canola oil). At Hydolent, the fat powder from hydrogenate canola oil is used in tablet production. It’s an excipient that helps tablets achieve a fixed shape and hold together.
The monosaccharide (simple sugar) glucosamine sulfate occurs naturally in human connective tissue, cartilage, and synovial fluid. In medicine, it’s used for mild and moderate arthrosis. Glucosamine sulfate seems to have a protective effect on the cartilage.
Glycerin should actually be called glycerol, as it is a trivalent alcohol – i.e. an alcohol which, in contrast to ethanol, has three OH groups. It binds water and helps in cosmetic products to moisturize the skin or help the skin maintain its moisture. Because glycerin is naturally present in the body, it is very well tolerated.
Glycyrrhthinic acid is extracted from the liquorice root. It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial effects. It can support wound healing, too. In cosmetics ist is used to sooth irritated skin.
Limonene is the main odorant in citrus fruit. It can be found in high concentrations in the peels of oranges and lemons, as well as several other plants. Limonene is extracted from natural substances, for example from peels produced during the production of orange juice. It serves as an odorant and flavoring agent, as well as an organic solvent. However, limonene has an irritating effect in large quantities.
Magnesium carbonate is a mineral that occurs in several rocks, among other things. In Hydolent vitamin D3 tablets, it’s used as a source of magnesium. Magnesium isn’t just necessary for various nerve and muscle functions in the body, it also plays a key role in vitamin D3 activation. That is why, next to vitamin K, it’s an essential component of vitamin D3 compounds.
Manganese gluconate (C12H22MnO14) is a manganese salt of gluconic acid. The light purple to pink substance is a highly bioavailable form of manganese, and is therefore often used in food supplements. Manganese is a trace element that is essential for many functions of the body. Manganese contributes to maintaining healthy bones and the normal formation of connective tissue.
Melia azadirachta is the botanical name for the Indian lilac. It originates from the region surrounding India, Pakistan, and Myanmar. Today, it’s at home in the hot, dry regions of the tropics and subtropics all over the world. The oil of its olive-like fruit contains a variety of active ingredients, and is used both in medicine and in agriculture. Indian lilac products have been used in Indian medicine for all kinds of symptoms since antiquity. The oil is used for head lice, inflammation, and also in oral hygiene.
Menachinon is another Name for Vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 is important to blood coagulation as well as bone and cell growth. It is crucial for the body´s calcium metabolism. Vitamin K2 is involved in the synthesis of certain proteins which help the bones to absorb calcium to maintain their strength. If this process doesn´t work properly, bone mass desreases. The bone becomes porous and fragile teeth can become loose.
Microcrystalline cellulose is a purified, partially decomposed cellulose. It is obtained from woody parts of plants. It is a dietary fiber that can pass through the intestines undigested. As the name implies, it is not a nanoproduct. The particle size may not be less than five micrometers, to prevent the substance from being absorbed by the body. Microcrystalline cellulose is used in food and pharmaceutical production as a filler, release agent, or carrier. For instance, it helps us shape tablets.
